Although dentures are made to be durable, they are not indestructible, and are susceptible to breakage under certain conditions. Many breakages, fractures, or chips result from an accidental drop of the denture, often times during cleaning. It is recommended that dentures be held over a towel or a sink filled with a little water to help absorb the impact in the event that it is dropped during cleaning.
